Brochure Design Terminology
1. Number of Pages
The number of pages of a brochure is defined by the number of sides that the brochure contains. For example, see the diagram below that shows a 4 page A4 brochure created by folding a sheet of A3 paper into half. It contains 4 sides, a. Front, b. Inside Front, c. Inside Back and d. Back.
2. Binding Types
There are 2 most common ways for binding a brochure.
a. Perfect Binding
A Perfect bind is when the left edge of the paper is glued together to form a booklet. This is commonly used when you have a brochure that contains alot of pages. For a perfect bind, we can add in denominations of 2 sides at a time.
b. Saddle Stitch
A Saddle stitch is when the pages are stapled through the middle to form a booklet. Booklets can be stapled up to 80 pages for a booklet, depending of the thickness of the paper. For a Saddle stitch, we can add in denominations of 4 sides at a time.
