Dr. Prema Raj is a Consultant Hepatobiliary and Pancreatic Surgeon in Mount Elizabeth Hospital. He graduated from the National University of Singapore in 1982 and went on to do his Fellowship examinations in Edinburgh and Glasgow in 1987. He obtained a master in surgery from NUS in 1987 as well.
From 1990 to 1992 he trained in a liver transplant and hepatobiliary unit in France. As a consultant in SGH from 1995 he started the liver surgical service.
He has been in private practice since 2000. In 2004 he was asked to help start the liver transplant service in SGH. He was the surgical director of liver transplantation in SGH until December 2007. Since January 2008 he started the Mount Elizabeth Hospital Liver Transplant Program.
His interests are in developing minimal access surgery for the liver. In particular he is pioneering robotic liver surgery in Singapore. |
