Dr Lui graduated first in class in the final MBBS exams from the National University of Singapore in 1990 and pursued his specialization in Gastroenterology, Hepatology and Transplant Hepatology in the United Kingdom the University of Edinburgh and the Scottish Liver Transplant Unit.
He returned to Singapore in 2000 and worked in Singapore General Hospital as Senior Consultant Gastroenterologist before embarking on a career in Gleneagles Hospital in 2006, whilst remaining as Visiting Consultant with the Department of Gastroenterology & Hepatology and Liver Transplant Unit, Singapore General Hospital. He joined the Mount Elizabeth Liver Transplant Service in 2008 as Deputy Director.
He is active in providing care to patients in areas of gastroenterology, diagnostic and therapeutic endoscopy, hepatology and liver transplantation. In particular he has special interest in chronic hepatitis, liver cirrhosis, portal hypertension and liver transplantation.
In addition to clinical practice, he is active in the field of Gastroenterology & Hepatology nationally and regionally - he is the Chairman of the National Foundation for Digestive Disease, was previously Scientific Chairman of Gastroenterology Society of Singapore and Editor of GutViews. He currently sits in the Ministry of Health Singapore Workgroups on Hepatitis B and Hepatocellular Carcinoma and the Asia Pacific Association for Study of Liver (APASL) Working Party on Portal Hypertension and Acute Variceal Bleeding. |
