Uniform Groups

Brownies
Under the leadership of Miss Kang, brownies have grown from strength to strength. The girls are taught positive values and they are also exposed to the great outdoors.

Boys Brigade
BB has been growing steadily in strength under the leadership of Miss Lee. The boys are taught good Christian values and are also exposed to outdoor camping.

Scouts
Scouting is one of the uniformed groups that have had quite a following in Kong Hwa School for the past few years. Boys as young as 9 years old signed up to be part of the scouting family.

Activities concentrating on knotting, pioneering, pitching tents and other scouting skills are carried out regularly so as to be in line with the Scouts Association’s objective and that is to provide a group environment which is intellectually stimulating, physically vital and directed towards satisfying the child's basic need to face and overcome challenges.

The Scout cubs use the skills obtained in the annually March and June camp. In the whole duration of the camp, the cubs stay overnight in locations e.g. the school compound or Pasir Ris Park.
Activities carried out during the camp are tailored to the cubs’ need to learn values like independence and responsibility (washing up of own cutlery and packing / cleaning up of own things and surrounding) and loyalty (performing the groups’ yells and cheers). All these activities contribute to the cubs’ sense of belonging to the Scouting family.

As part of a larger organization, Kong Hwa Sun Scout cubs have taken part in the headquarters’ events such as the 2005 National Exploration.
In the year 2006, the cubs have participated in the following headquarters’ events:
  1. Jobweek
  2. Fly – your – Flag

In addition to the above activities, the cubs are constantly volunteering for different school – based events. To date, the cubs have volunteered for the following:
  1. International Friendship Day
  2. Kong Hwa Family Day
  3. Kong Hwa National Day celebration

In our effort to contribute to the community, Kong Hwa Sun Scout cubs have visited the old folks’ home in the early part of 2006. The cubs had the opportunity to interact with the elderly from the nearby home while celebrating Mother’s Day with the residents. The experience was enriching for the cubs involved.
